Neyland Match Report

Neyland vs Llanrhian. Harrison-Allen Bowl, Wednesday 3rd June 2009. Umpires: Gelly James & .
The Jackals made their expected route into the quarterfinals with a comprehensive win over a depleted Llanrhian side at the Athletic Ground on Wednesday night. On an evening bathed in glorious sunshine the home batting line up was too strong for the division three attack. A solid start from opening duo John and Murray set the foundations before Andrew Miller joined John to advance the score at a healthy rate. A horrific shot from John saw him dismissed for 42 before the entrance to the crease of Boo Kooman who produced the shot of the day with a wristy flick for four that was a shot of the very highest order. Some good lower hitting from Phil Davies saw the Jackals end on a score of 140 after their allotted 22 overs.
This score was always going to be tough for Llanrhian especially as key run getter Geraint Morris was dismissed in the first over, closely followed by Chris Cousens who has in the past taken the Neyland attack apart. Destroyer in chief for the Jackals was off spinner Davies who ruthlessly stamped out any chance of a comeback from the visitors in much the same way that Richard 3rd had his infant nephews killed in the Tower of London in 1483 (allegedly!).
At 27-6 Windy Miller had the chance to share the bowling duties around, and is the case with this young side no one was to disappoint as the wickets were shared around to cap off a very efficient team performance. The home side eventually bowling out the opposition for 56 to cap off an 84 run victory in fine style.
